Deployment background
The operator held solar assets that were performing well technically but poorly commercially: surplus generation was exported at low feed-in rates during the middle of the day.
Dutch wholesale pricing had become highly volatile, with meaningful intraday spreads. Without storage there was no way to shift energy into the higher-value evening window or respond to price signals.
The brief was to add flexibility without redesigning the existing solar plant, and to keep the architecture expandable as more capacity came online.
