The Opportunity

Better Energy Infrastructure.
Without Competing for Your Capital.

Energy costs, peak demand, grid constraints and future electrification are becoming important commercial considerations for Australian businesses.

Yet investing directly in solar, battery storage and supporting electrical infrastructure can require significant upfront capital.

Through suitable long-term commercial structures, businesses can access new energy infrastructure while preserving capital for their core operations.

01

Reduce Upfront Capital Pressure

Explore funded or service-based alternatives to direct equipment purchase.

02

Improve Energy Cost Visibility

Develop commercial arrangements aligned with site demand and long-term operating objectives.

03

Plan for Future Growth

Consider storage, electrification and site expansion as part of the overall energy strategy.

Every project is assessed individually. Financial outcomes and funding availability are not guaranteed.

How It Works

A Different Way to Access Solar Energy.

Under a typical commercial solar Power Purchase Agreement, an approved project owner or funding partner finances and owns the solar installation at your site.

Your business purchases eligible electricity generated by the system under an agreed long-term contract, rather than paying the full installation cost upfront.

Bright Grid Energy helps develop the technical and commercial solution, coordinates appropriate delivery partners and works with relevant funding and asset partners.

Business Customer

Hosts the system and purchases eligible solar electricity.

Funding / Asset Partner

Approved project owner finances and owns the solar installation.

The electricity supply counterparty and any required retail or regulatory arrangements are confirmed in the project contracts. Bright Grid is not automatically the electricity retailer, asset owner or licensed electrical contractor.

A PPA is not simply equipment finance.
It is a long-term energy supply arrangement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear Answers.
Project-Specific Decisions.

What is a commercial solar PPA?

A Power Purchase Agreement is a long-term arrangement to purchase eligible electricity generated by an on-site solar system. An approved project owner or funding partner typically finances and owns the installation. It is an energy supply arrangement, not simply equipment finance.

Can we install solar without paying upfront?

Suitable projects may qualify for little or no upfront customer capital expenditure. Availability depends on technical feasibility, project economics, credit review, site arrangements and funding approval. Some project costs may remain payable by the customer.

Will a PPA reduce our electricity bills?

Potential outcomes depend on your consumption profile, system performance, existing tariffs and the proposed contract. We assess these factors before discussing a commercial structure. Savings are not guaranteed.

How long does a PPA last?

The term is negotiated for the individual project and reflects the site, asset and commercial requirements. We do not offer a universal contract length.

What happens to our existing grid electricity supply?

A typical on-site solar PPA does not replace your existing grid electricity supply. Your existing retailer generally continues supplying electricity not met by the system. Metering, network and retail arrangements must be reviewed for each site.

Can we add battery storage to an existing solar system?

Possibly. Compatibility, electrical capacity, grid connection, existing warranties and your load profile need assessment before a storage solution is proposed.

Can battery storage be included in a PPA?

An integrated project may include storage, but battery leasing and service fees are different from purchasing solar electricity. Ownership, charging, dispatch, payments and performance obligations must be defined in the project contracts.

Who owns and maintains the equipment?

Under a typical solar PPA, an approved project owner or asset partner owns the system. Installation, maintenance and operational responsibilities are allocated to appropriately qualified partners under the relevant contracts. Customer CAPEX and battery service arrangements may differ.

What if we lease our building?

Landlord consent, roof access, lease duration and the right to install and operate equipment need review. A suitable agreement with the property owner may be required.

What happens if we sell the business or move premises?

Assignment, early termination, relocation and any asset purchase options depend on the agreed contract. These matters should be reviewed before entering a long-term arrangement.

Are government incentives available?

Some projects may be eligible for incentives subject to the current scheme rules and assessment. Eligibility, availability and any benefit are not guaranteed and must be confirmed for the project.

What information is needed for an initial assessment?

Business and site details, approximate electricity spend, existing solar information and your objectives are a useful starting point. Electricity bills, interval data, site access and property arrangements may be requested for a more detailed assessment.
